We salute you Heidi Stevenson RIP

On April 19, Nova Scotia RCMP lost a hero. Cst. Heidi Stevenson was killed while protecting others during an active shooter incident. We, the people of Canada, your RCMP family, people from all around the world salute you.

Cst. Stevenson we know you were loved by many in the communities that you served. The flowers, cards and posts in social media prove that beyond a doubt. I didn't know you personally but I have read an awful lot about you, and I humbled by your strength, your honor and your bravery.

During this trying time of COVID 19, large gatherings are not allowed so the formal tribute for this brave soul will have to wait. I say it gives them more time to plan a proper ceremony, one that befits her. There will be a small private ceremony planned by her family today April 24th.

Heidi was a cherished Mom, a wife, a daughter, a friend and a respected colleague to many. I didn't know her one bit but I find myself captured by her story. I find myself drawn to women in positions usually held by men, women who break down barriers for the younger women coming up the ranks. Women who take chances, put themselves in harm's way to protect others. We thank you Heidi for doing this for the women all around the world. Rest in Peace Heidi. My sincerest condolences to her family, her co-workers and friends. I can see you've lost a genuine gem here. I'm so sorry for your loss.
